It has been a long year since the last Elemental Championship, but the Championship Arena Complex did not show signs of age, but rather on the contrary - it grew, and along with it, just a hill and a spring with a weary wooden bridge over it away, grew the township...now more of a city...of Bren. The vicinity of the Arena has done it much good - apart from the great crowds -- and thusly business -- it brought it during the Championship itself, just the presence of such a building carried the township's name far over the lands. There came adventurers of many sorts, and the burgeoning four inns of Bren were never short of business, there came priests of the Elemental Lords, building shrines and churches and granting it divine protection not from one, but from all the Lords, and there came many, many artisans to maintain the three offshoot Arenas around the old one, and craft yet a fourth offshoot that hung high in the sky above the lot.

The would-be combatants, either just arriving, or having taken a night's rest either at an inn or at the small camp of tents at the base of the Arena hill, would get to see the artisans' handiwork soon enough, right after the priests and mages within them finish their last checks on the protective barriers and image transportation enchantments for the gathered crowds.

The gates opened with a slow and ominous shudder, finally cast wide for all to see within. Fountain Arena was open once more.

This arena's new setup took the form of a lazily rising steppe of circles, standing tall and proud with its accompanying beauty of fountains and shrubbery. The hill it had originally been made into had been cut away to create symmetry to the form, and create a more difficult defense of the high ground. The eye catching display of constant transmutation from the crowning fountain on the ninth, top step is mere eye-candy to spectators...but could easily be turned into an offensive threat by competitors of skill.

Even in the soothing scents and pleasant aromas of the plants placed so delicately on the battleground seem to hint at greater dangers. Their sweet smells hiding the sickly-sweet aftertaste of year-old blood newly dampened by fresh running water. Perhaps the same water that runs on the cobblestone path on the northern side of the structure that is pooling at the feet of all on the bottom level ever so slightly.

But now is not the time for beauty, nor for gardening. Now is the time for battle.

Under a summer sun and a shimmering magic veil, the fight was to begin at the Fountain Arena!

*Septim appears and begins his meditation

*As Patton continues to pray, a soft white light seems to glow from him. Continuing his prayers, he rises from the ground and removes his sword. He waits for his opponents to make their first move.*

(Patton casts 'Bless' on self. Raising chances to hit and to dodge/block incoming physical attacks)

Walking in to the arena, Erunion wonders;
"What in the light have I done to deserve this bunch of misfits!"
Shaking his head, Erunion flickers, his armour appearing on him. Then a wall of fire blazes around him for a brief moment, then dissipates into the air.

Erunion has cast Wall of Fire, which will activate when a solid object attempts to get close. (Don't worry, it'll fry arrows, and scorch people, but it's only a delay/annoy defense, to hurt and blind people before a come at them with my forearm/shin spikes. Or a fireball...)

Observing Patton, Erunion decides it's best to get ready.

Erunion stares at the air, his eyes glazing over...

After a few minutes, Erunion has cast Magic Protection. All spells will be harder to cast on Erunion.

{OOC: Funny, both the spells I've cast so far have, at one point in time, been part of VU...}

*Septim raises his head and looks up, his eyes shining a light blue that seems to capture the soul. He rises and draws his blade, it is now shining blue.

(This spell protects the user from blindness and gives his blade the power of ice, the blade will now freeze anything except it's sheath and the caster)

Suddenly a a flash from the the 9th circle of the garden that blinded the contestants eye's for a moment, then finally a stout man came out. He was dressed in all 8 Elemental Colors, obviously one of the referees of the tournament.

 He spoke in suprisingly shrill voice " All of you are the best of your respective element, you have come here because the gods have chosen you for your ability to fight and win."

He stared imperiously down at each of them. Finally he continued " Many millineums ago the gods chose this to be the way that they would decide who gained power from year to year. So remember this is not only a battle of glory but also a powerstruggle of the gods"

He paused again before finally continuing " This is a Battle Royale everything and anything goes. Finally this 9th circle will teleport you to the next stadium where you shall battle there. It shall only open when  there is only 4 standing. These lucky few shall continue on the next battle. Also it seems we have a late comer. Tsk Tsk Verll punctuality is  the key to success"

With these final words the man dissapeared.

Updates:

Xiax: Your speech wierded some of the contestants out a bit but nothing else. Charms succesful.

Patton: All charms  are succesful. I'll choose at what spell level Embue Shield is unsuccseful.

Erunion: The charms are succesful. All alterations used on your person will be less succesful, spells used to hurt you will stay the same(effect user's will be crying now).

Spetim: Succesful charm.

Gilth: You gain a good view of the surrounding area and note that in one spot is a small statue shaped like a falcon.

*Xiax starts dancing, moving his arms and feet in unison while humming an ancient monastic hymn. As his tempo speeds up, any observers start feeling a stirring in their loins and a faint mist of lust start to cloud their eyes.*

*Patton's focused on Septim, Xiax is ignored*

(OOC: If people can ignore me like that does that mean that if I say they didn't ignore me then they wouldn't be able to?)

*Xiax continues dancing*

*Patton looks up as he sends his warhorse straight into Septim*

"An area effect spell at close range eh? You're not immune... and I'm on a horse"

*Paton slams right into Septim,  taking a hard slash at him before speeding past him, coming around for another pass.*


(I want a save for partial damage, due to the fact that I was riding on a horse and moving away from the brunt of the impact when I was going right at him when he casts this 'mountain' of ice cubes, unless it was a direct spell, then you can factor in my shield spell. As for Septim, I'm calling for blunt damage for being run over by a horse, and a slash attack from the Holy Avenger sword.)

(Xiax, if I wasn't looking at you, then I'm not looking at you. Verll, however, did look around the arena, so I'm sure he would've 'seen' you. Gilith is at a high vantage point, so he may have seen you, and Erunion is using EITS, so a chance to 'see' you, unless he's actively ignoring your presence in the spell (Sig's discretion))

[OOC] I'm immune to lust :p lol I dunno...I have that ring on me.....bah let Sig decide.

(Um, if Dispel Magic went through, it won't happen homie. Everything I do, I do for a reason. Also, have you ever been run over by a horse? You're going to do more than grunt if the thing hits you.)

The blow falls on the war horse's barding (it'll turn it into ice if the spell is still active) and the horse continues to move. Patton turns back towards Septim and raises his sword in the air and mutters a quick spell, swinging his sword down until its pointed at Septim, sending a bolt of holy light his way. Patton then charges in once more.

(Missle-spell 'Holy Bolt'. This will strike him for light damage, and if he was of evil/dark alignment it will score extra damage.)

(OOC: Why would you actively block me Erunion unless you have seen my dance moves? But you wouldn't have much idea what they did anyways unless you already experienced their effects.)

(OOC: Oh suure... now you say it... And it would be too late after you saw it anyways to stop it's effects.)

(OOC: When it's full effects are that you feel a stirring in your loins, and some lust, I'm not sure how much more there is to it after the initial sighting.)

Verll awakens by something hitting him in the head. The thing falls down in his lap and he sees it is a apple. He looks up and sees that Patton is charging him. He stands up in front of the tree and waits until the charge is close enough. Right before he is about to be trampled he sidesteps as fast as he(remember, as swift as the wind) can and avoids the charge, cause and in one swift motion draws his knife and slices at the horse's flank

Erunion Telcontar: As Erunion looks at the arena  through his eye in the sky he notices something shocking. The mini-avalanche started by Septim is heading for you! It takes a second to stop the eye in the sky. But the avalanche is almost upon you quickly you....

(My guy is like...Indiana Jones! HE CANNOT BE HURT BY MERE HORSES!!!)

*Septim flies backwards and lands on the ground, he slowly gets up in time to create a continuous wall of ice with one arm that the fire cannot get through while using his other arm to send a volley of ice chunks over the wall.

Erunion, seeing the avalanche heading towards him, quickly turned the stream of fire towards, it, ran to the side and put all his strength into a wall of fire only facing the avalanche. Erunion's loping run quickly ate up the distance...

[OOC: My abilities are derived mostly from my element and class. There are I think two aspects of the earthen element. One is that of life and fertility as the earth nurtures all life (ex. I might be able to grow a tree out of nowhere or increase my own strength or cause base emotions to well up in others). The other is of strength and endurance, the image of rocks and metals enters the mind in this aspect, imparting it's strength on it's wielder (ex. I might be able to strengthen my body against attacks or may be able to summon giant rocks to be launched at other people). And of course I'm a hand to hand fighter.]

*Xiax stops danceing after a while and tries to intercept Gilth as he climbs the platform.*
